Betty Hagen Obituary

Betty Ann (Frank) Hagen passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Unity Hospice in De Pere.

Betty was born in Menomonie, on May 30, 1924 to Edwin and Hazel (Price) Frank. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday at a "Packer Tailgate Party" surrounded by family and friends.

Betty was a Menomonie High School graduate, class of 1942. She went on to attend UW-La Crosse. She modeled briefly for Max Factor cosmetics during the war years. She was a manager of the Montgomery Ward's catalog department in Ashland, but the majority of her working career was spent at the Bank of Menomonie.

Betty was married to Warren "Gunnär" Hagen. They had two daughters, Cheri (Jerrold) Odness of Oneida, and Sandra Sarff (N. Michael) of Menomonie. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Christopher (Heidi) Odness of West Bend, Heather (Jeff) Benson of Prior Lake, Minn., Sara Sarff of Stevens Point, and Matt Sarff of Menomonie. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Erik, Elizabeth and Jack Odness and Noah and Emily Benson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and an especially dear friend, Marlys "Dolly" Gynild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Hazel Frank; husband, Warren "Gunnär" Hagen; brother, Jake Frank; sister, Patricia Frank Johnson; and her oldest grandchild, Erik Odness.

Betty was an avid Packer and Notre Dame football fan. She loved watching football, college basketball and the Milwaukee Brewers. She loved reading, collecting recipe books and teddy bears, and loved watching westerns. Besides being a wonderful mother, she was an awesome cook.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Burial will take place at Christ Lutheran Halvorson Cemetery, Menomonie. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bellin Hospital, the caring and gracious staff of Unity Hospice and Dr. Amy James. We also thank the devoted pastoral staff of Calvary Lutheran Church in Green Bay, always helping us to remember God's grace through this difficult time.
