Catherine "Katie" Spath, 93, of Stanley, died Friday, July 12th, 2013 at Oakbrook Nursing and Rehab Center in Thorp.
She was born on June 3, 1920 to the late James and Genevieve (Qullar) Sadlier. She grew up in the Edson-Stanley area and attended area schools.
On April 12, 1941 she was united in marriage to Joseph John Spath in Chicago, Ill. The couple lived in the Milwaukee area for many years. Katie worked for Cutler-Hammer until 1968 when they moved to Stanley and operated the Sportsman's Bar for ten years before retirement.
Katie was a devout Catholic, loved flowers, enjoyed bird watching, the Brewers and especially loved her family.
Survivors include: her children, James (Judy) Spath of Vesper, Allan (Carol) Spath of Centerville, Ohio, Alice (Kim) Klima of Butternut and Joseph (Deb) Spath of Stanley; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and fourgreat-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Joseph John (1994); her parents; two daughters, Violet Heino and Judith Smasal; one son, Thomas Spath; three grandchildren, Scott Klima, Nancy Yonkovich and Jeff Smasal; one brother, James Sadlier; and her sister. Mary Ritschke.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church-Boyd with Father William Felix officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery-Stanley. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley.
