Ellen Baxter-Cutsforth Obituary

Ellen Renee Baxter-Cutsforth, aged 64, passed away in her home on the morning of October, 24th 2025. She was in the presence of God, family, and holding the hand of her beloved husband Dean Cutsforth.

Ellen was born to Rev. John and Helen Baxter on May 31st, 1961. She grew up with God as the center of their lives and moved around a lot to follow this path. As a young girl, she loved art, reading, and music; which she maintained her whole life.

After graduating high school, Ellen met Murray Kuhnly and married. Ellen and Murray welcomed four children: Laura, Jenny, Travis, and Kathy. Ellen stayed busy caring for her four children and making life work.

Following a separation from Murray, Ellen met Joseph "Joe" Sporrer. They married and together had three children: Beth, Isaiah, and Sam. Ellen, having seven children to care for, was even more busy overseeing a large household.

Ellen then separated from Joe. At this point she began to find work and became more independent. Throughout all of these life changes, Ellen also instilled a love of God in her children through stories and her love of Christian music.

After several years she met the true love of her life Dean Cutsforth. They fell in love and built a life with their children, friends, and the local biker community. Ellen gained three more daughters: Stephanie, Jenn, and Codie. Besides continuing to enjoy reading books, she began to develop a passion for making quilts for her grandchildren, siblings, parents, and friends. She continued scrapbooking and enjoying using her Cricket.

In July of 2024 she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Despite this, Ellen used her intense faith in God and lived with cancer for over a year. The loving care of her husband Dean, her children, family, and her hospice team made her journey to heaven a lot smoother.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; John and Helen Baxter, her sister; Carole Ann Walker, her ex-husband; Joe Sporrer, and her sister; Mary, in infancy.

Ellen is survived by her husband; Dean Cutsforth. Also, her siblings; Nancy(Dave) Losier, Russ(Donna) Baxter, Holt Walker, Jacqueline Baxter. She is also survived by her 10 children; Laura(Mat) McDonald, Jenny(Steve) Reitz, Travis(Angie) Kuhnly, Kathy(Jeff) Cade, Stephanie Link (Cutsforth), Jenn(Marty) Johnson, Beth(Tom) Hofmeister, Isaiah Sporrer, Codie Cutsforth and Samantha Sporrer. She is survived by her 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 more on the way. She also survived by many aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews as well.

A funeral service will be held at the Elmwood Auditorium 323 W. Winter Ave, Elmwood, WI on November 15th, 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m.
