Everett N. Kistner, age 76, of Ridgeland, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Hayward to Charles and Rosella (Shafer) Kistner. The family traveled by covered wagon to the Downsville area when Everett was a child and that is where he was raised and attended school. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
On Dec. 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Theresa Bauer at Elmwood. After Everett was discharged from the Air Force, the couple farmed at Downsville until 1960, when they moved to the Ridgeland area. They farmed there until 1968 and then Everett worked various jobs in the area before finally taking his job with the village of Ridgeland where he was the village patrolman until his retirement. Everett was also the village constable and a member of the Ridgeland Fire Department for many years.
Everett was well-liked by everyone and was always willing to help out with any of the community functions. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Barron and also the Willard Hinzman American Legion Post 511 of Ridgeland. In his younger days, Everett was one of the best pitchers in the area for fastpitch softball.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Chester, Tobe and Darrel; and a sister, Beryl.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Kistner of Ridgeland; three sons, Paul (Peggy) Kistner of Colfax, Ronald (Debra) Kistner of Wheeler, and David (Diane) Kistner of Menomonie; a daughter, Dianne Kistner-Cutting of Ridgeland; grandchildren, Shane Cutting, Dawn Kurschner, Paula Haugle, Portia Maves, and Matthew, Megan, Jessica, Ryan, Rachel and Amanda Kistner; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Shalynn Cutting, Skylar Maves, and Alaina and Jordan Kistner; a brother, John (Agnes) Kistner of Yucaipa, Calif.; a sister, Viola (Gordy) Hoyt of Durand; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Barron with Father George Votruba officiating. Burial was in Wayside Cemetery in Barron with military honors accorded by Willard Hinzman American Legion Post 511 of Ridgeland.
Arrangements were with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, Dallas and Cameron.
