Gerald "Poppy" Charles Drace, 67, of Chippewa Falls died Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Gerald was born Oct. 25, 1948, in Boyd, the son of Carl and Loretta (Sonnentag) Drace.
Gerald's journey was his own. Gerald celebrated with friends and foe, and his life consisted of that. As the true meaning of life is to do what you do, do well, and he did that. A master painter he was, and his work still shows today.
Gerald is survived by his soul mate, Connie Sperry and extended families; he is also survived by daughters, Dawn (Bryan) Baker and Karla (Travis) Prince of Chippewa Falls; step-children, Angela (Mike Perkins) Sperry of Chippewa Falls, Russell (Stacia) Sperry of Snohomish, Wash., Amy Sperry of Elk Mound, Eugene (Sarah) Sperry of Chippewa Falls, and Jarred (Shannon Robinson) Girard of Chippewa Falls; 27 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter whom he loved very much; two brothers, Jim (Kathy) Drace of Chippewa Falls, Donny Drace of Boyd; one sister, Evey (Bill) Zubal of Boyd; and nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Drace; eight sisters, Mary, Lavonne, Corrine, Marlene, Shirley, Beverly, Helen and Carol; and step-daughter, Lora Holmquist.
Until we meet again, somewhere, up there, we love you, and you will be dearly missed by all, calm peace, "Poppy."
Private services will be held.
Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may express condolences online at www.horanfuneralhome.com.

Poppy was one of a kind (Mind you). We made each other laugh. He gave me a compliment once that I hold close and I am proud to call him a friend. A very funny person with a very big heart. I would say that "I didn't meant it", but I do. I'll see you later Poppy (I gotta went).

I didn't know Gerald very long but I did know that he was a very kindhearted man that truly loved his family and those around him. He will be missed by many including myself. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
