CORNELL - Gertrude "Leona" Matott, 100, of the town of Arthur, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at the Cornell Area Care Center, Cornell.
She was born on May 24, 1907, in Eau Claire to Alfred and Julia (Quammen) Nerdrum.
Leona was a country school teacher. While teaching at the Matott School, she met Harold Matott and they were married on July 28, 1930.
She is survived by: a son, Darryle (friend Shirley) Matott; a sister, Bethella Cosby; six grandchildren, Jesse (Dawn) Matott, James Matott, Andrew (Linda) Matott, Rainy (Tim) Antolak, Sarah (Ron) Peloquin and Maria (Tim) Potaczek; 13 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a sister in law, Ethel Hinke.
Leona was preceded in death by: her husband, Harold; daughter in law, Beatrice; her parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott, with Rev. Diane House officiating.
Spring interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, town of Arthur.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and also one hour before services Wednesday at the Leiser Funeral Home.
