Jane Hovland Obituary
Jane D. Hovland, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Village Crest Care Center in New Milford, Conn.
She was born in Strum on Aug. 26, 1922 to Kernel and Hilda Loga.
Jane married Robert Hovland in 1943 and together they raised two children, Dennis and Vicki. She and her husband lived in Chippewa Falls until 1977 when they retired and moved to Sun City, Ariz. And there Jane stayed until her family convinced her to move to Connecticut to be close to her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jane was an avid golfer and card player and enjoyed participating in both activities until well into her 80s. She was also a gentle, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, beloved by all who knew her.
Jane is survived by: her son Dennis (Sandra) Hovland of New Milford, Conn.; three grandchildren, Paul (Laurie) Hovland of Bolingbrook, Ill., Jill (Peter) Vermilyea of Litchfield, Conn., and Jessica (Thomas) Smith of New Milford. Jane is also survived by: seven great-grandchildren; longtime family friend Caroline Rooks of Peoria, Ariz.; and two sons-in-law, David Robbins and Michael Baki.
Jane was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Robert; and her daughter, Vicki.
A memorial service was held at the Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford on Friday, July 5.
