April 4, 1936 - October 5, 2025
Joanne M. Oleson, 89, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Eau Claire after a brief illness.
She was born April 4, 1936, in Chippewa Falls to Earl and Louise (Ferg) Girard.
For over 50 years, Joanne worked in the office at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and was very devoted to her congregation. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors tending to her garden. Joanne's family and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved spending time with them.
Joanne is survived by her children, Eric (Georgie) Oleson of Gordon, WI and Patti (Brian) Schneider of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Olivia and Ellie Schneider and Amber, Nicole, and Kacey Block; siblings, Don (Fran) Girard of Chippewa Falls, Carolyn Opocensky of Ramona, CA, and Ken Girard of Plymouth, MN; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Earl Girard.
I believe in the Holy Spirit as real in my heart and actions that I do daily. Yes, I talk to him. He is a greater part of the God who gave us life. In the morning, I thank Him for giving me the day. When I have a hard decision to make or something I don't like happening to me, I pray to Him; maybe I don't get an answer right away, but keep asking. You will never feel or be alone. ~ From Joanne to her family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, October 13, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls, with Fr. Daniel Sedlacek officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at church.
Interment will be at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Memorials will be directed to Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

To the family of Joanne, I am expressing my condolences to you with a poem that my wife wrote. My wife Cheryl passed away a little over 2 years ago, and I know the heartbreak of losing a loved one! May God be with you!

God can be found as the leaves touch the ground. God can be found if we just look around. God can be found in a tree, yellow and red. God can be found in the comfort of a friend. God can be found where it's warm and mild. God can be found in a smile of a child. God can be found in the splendor of the grass. God can be found in the crashing brass. God can be found in watching a loon. God can be found in the shining moon. God can be found when we run life's race. God can be found in His saving grace. God can be found when we need His embrace. God can be found at every turn and bend. God can be found when we reach life's end. God can be found at Heaven's gate. So, let us not wait, before, before it's too late to look, where God can still be found.

What a wonderful friend! She was an excellent ambassador for Holy Ghost Parish for many, many years! She is at Peace in Jesus' arms. We are so blessed to have known her!
