John Goettl

John Goettl, 85, a resident of Lakeside Nursing & Rehabilitation, town of Eagle Point, died peacefully Sunday morning, June 22, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 29, 1918, in the town of Tilden, the son of Michael and Katherine (Bohl) Goettl. He farmed in the town of Tilden and founded Goettl Trucking and in later years worked at Klinger Farms.

John married Caroline Bowe on Dec. 2, 1936, at St. Peter's Church, Tilden.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Church.

He is survived by: three sons, Kenn (Charlotte) of Rice Lake, Eugene (Phyllis) and Jerry (Marcia), both of Chippewa Falls; six daughters, Rita (Calvan) Miller of Wausau, Joan (Morris) Matthews of Wasilla, Alaska, Linda (Ken) Berg, Diane (Richard) Schemenauer, Carol (Jim) Shilha and Kathy (Bill) Michalek, all of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Mary Fanetti and Margaret Osborn, both of Chippewa Falls; one brother-in-law, Harvey (Mavis) Bowe of California; three sisters-in-law, Florina and Veronica Goettl and Bernadine Larson, all of Chippewa Falls; 29 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Caroline on March 6, 1999; one son, Joseph in infancy; his parents; four brothers, Albert, Walter, Leo and Edward Goettl; and three grandsons, Riky Matthews, Greg Berg and Richard Schemenauer, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25 at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Edmund Doerre will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 and until 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
