Kenneth C. Johnson, 80, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Our House Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls with the care of Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice.
He was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Chippewa Falls to Gertrude (Van Camp) and Oscar "Lucky" Johnson.
He grew up in Chippewa Falls where he also attended school.
Ken served in the U.S. Army from April 1953 until his honorable discharge in March 1955.
On Dec. 29, 1962, he married the love of his life, Diane Knudsen. They resided in Chippewa Falls and Ken worked for the U.S. Army Reserves until his retirement.
He is survived by: a half-brother, John (Janice) Johnson of Ladysmith; mother-in-law, Eldora Knudsen of Chippewa Falls; a brother-in-law, Tom (Rita) Knudsen of Watkinsville, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Mary Jo Hanson of Chippewa Falls, Lisa (John) Layne of Watkinsville, Jerry Erickson of Atlanta, and Tony Knudsen of Athens, Ga., Peter (Dodi) Johnson, Kristi Kyes, Mark Johnson (Lynn); great-nieces and -nephews, Ashley (James) Roesler, Emily and Taylor Hanson, Jake and Jack Erickson, Peter, Theodore, Courtney, Amber and Scott Johnson, Amanda, Joshua, Andrew, Benjamin, Elizabeth, David, Adam and Isaiah Kyes, Nathan and Austin Johnson.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Diane on Nov. 7, 2013; his mother, Gertrude Johnson; father, Oscar Johnson; stepfather, Carl "Chris" Johnson; and sister-in-law, Ruth Anne Knudsen.
A memorial service for Kenneth and his wife, Diane will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
