CORNELL - Laura Theresa Hoel, 86, of the town of Cleveland, Chippewa County, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at The Cornell Area Care Center in Cornell.
She was born the daughter of Arthur and Nora (Fasbender) St. Aubin on April 10, 1923, in the town of Cleveland. Laura attended school in the town of Cleveland, graduating Cornell High School in 1940.
She married Allen Hoel May 26, 1941, in Chippewa Falls. They resided in the town of Cleveland where they farmed before moving to their retirement home on Highway ZZ in 1972.
Laura was involved in many neighborhood activities and dedicated her time to helping friends, family, and neighbors in any way she could. Raising her eight children kept her more than busy; she was the "go to" person for recipes, problem-solving, and companionship. She provided great assistance to her husband who was very active in cooperative and township matters. Laura enjoyed the Brewers, Badgers and Packers, but especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include: her children, Allen Hoel of St. Josephs, Mo., Raymond (Donna) Hoel of Cornell, Thomas Hoel of Altoona, Bill (Barb) Hoel of Germantown, Tenn., David Hoel of Cornell, Cheryl (Mike) Beighley, Suzanne (Bruce) Hartzell and Mary (Mark Robarge) all of Cornell; two sisters, Emma Petska of Bloomer, Jeanne (Guy) Crosby of Cornell; two brothers, Dennis (Ruthann) St. Aubin of Jim Falls, Bill (Esther) St. Aubin of Eau Claire; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Allen; one grandson Tim; two brothers, Fred and Clyde St. Aubin; and four sisters, Lucille Leavens, Audrey Kowalewski, Louise Rubenzer Herbert and Ione Goettl.
Funeral services for Laura will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Borton Funeral Home in Cornell with Rev. James Leschensky officiating. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the Funeral Home.
