Mathilda Marie (Geist) Ramminger, 99 of 612 Main St. Cornell, passed away June 29, 2015.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1915, in the Town of Delmar to the late Henry and Mary (Ramert) Geist Sr.
She grew up in the Delmar Township and attended the Excelsior public school and also St. Joseph's Catholic school in Boyd.
Mathilda married Alfred Ramminger on Feb. 6, 1934, in St. Joseph's Catholic church. They farmed in the Town of Delmar for two years. In 1936 they purchased eighty acres in Sawyer County and lived at Hayward, for ten years. In 1946 they moved to Cornell, where her husband worked at St. Regis paper mill for 25 plus years. During this time they purchased a 120 acre farm in the Keystone Community. In 1966 they purchased the present residence.
Mathilda was a member of Holy Cross Catholic church. She was Coordinator for the Archconfraternity of Christian Doctrine for many years and taught the Catholic faith for seventeen years, also an an active member of the Council of Catholic women and chair person of St. Cecelia's Circle for many years.
She is survived by: six daughter's and three son's. Carol (Don) of San Diego, California, Wilfred (Sybeila) of Dover, Delaware, Viola of East Bethel, Minnesota, Charlotte of Altura, Minnesota, Rita of Oceanside, California, Susan (Pete) of Ladson, South Carolina, Leon (Maria) of Osseo, Minnesota, Maryanne (Tom) of West Pains, Missouri and Allen (Loni) of Cornell. Also survived by: 29 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren One sister Christina.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Alfred; daughters, Marilyn and Frances; her sisters, Agnes, Frances and Genivive, five brothers, Raymond, Henry, Joseph, Anthony and Theodore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday July 3, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cornell with Fr. Peter Manickan and Fr. Eric Linzmaier Officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Boyd.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell and also one hour before services Friday morning at the church.
