Matt Kiraly, 36, former resident of the Stanley area, passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, in Rhinelander.
He was born February 6, 1967, in Nuerenburg, Germany, the son of Raymond and Jacquelyne (Hilger) Kiraly. He was united in marriage to Elisha Agne in 1999 in Rhinelander.
Matt grew up in the Stanley area and attended area schools, graduating from Stanley-Boyd High School in 1985. He attended Winona State University and graduated in 1990 with a B.A. degree in history and political science. During this time he still resided in the Stanley area and was a member of the Stanley City Council. He was active in scouting and was an Eagle Scout himself.
In 1994 Matt moved to Rhinelander where he resided until 2001. He then moved to Wausau.
He is survived by his wife Elisha of Wausau, mother Jacquelyne Kiraly of Stanley, brothers Michael (Cathe) of Fond du Lac and Paul of Rhinelander, niece and nephew Tony and Samantha Kiraly, plus many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was proceeded in death by his father Raymond, maternal grandparents Robert and Lorraine Hilger, paternal grandparents Frank and Theresa Kiraly, and cousin Tom Cushing.
Matt had a great love for genealogy and history. He was the president of the Mid-State Independent Living Board, a member of the Fourth Degree of Knights of Columbus and was a member of St. Michael's parish, where he was a Eucharist minister. He also remained to be involved in scouting.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wausau with burial to follow after the service at 2:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Stanley.
