STANLEY - Karen L. Champion, 73, of Stanley, died peacefully at The Home Place in Stanley, Tuesday, April 4, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Karen was born March 7, 1944, to Phillip and Florence (Franzwa) Champion in Eau Claire. She graduated from Memorial High School with the class of 1962. Karen worked at W.S. Darley & Co. in Chippewa Falls, as an administrative assistant for over 20 years. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she worked as the church secretary. Karen also worked at London Hill Skateland as a "floor guard."
Karen loved her pets Lucy and Emma. She enjoyed playing cards in her card club, reading, traveling, but most of all she enjoyed roller skating with her family at London Hill Skateland. As an only child, she cherished her cousins and loved them as if they were her own brothers and sisters. Karen may have been a little stubborn, but had a great sense of humor. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend that will be missed by all.
Karen is survived by her children, Chris (Becky) Wright of Stanley, Tracy Wright (Peter Hasenmueller) of Eau Claire and Travis Wright of Onalaska, Wis.; grandchildren, Aaron (Chrisy) Wright, Kane (Breanna) Lambert, Kayla Lambert, Kaitlin Wright, Lauren Wright-Hasenmueller, Amanda Wright and Brandon Wright; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Adam, Dominik, Charlie, Payten, Cali, Kash and Olivia; along with numerous cousins and other relatives.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St., Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Wall will be officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire at a later date.
