Ralph Halvorson Obituary

Ralph Halvorson

December 29, 1932 - October 22, 2025

Ralph J. Halvorson, 92, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at home with his wife, Linda, by his side.

He was born December 29, 1932, in Stevens Point, Wis., to Clarence and Genevieve (Rice) Halvorson.

He attended high school in Eau Claire and Elk Mound. He left school and served in the U.S. Marines from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He sustained a head wound and earned a Purple Heart and other medals which will be displayed at the visitation.

On March 5, 1988, he married Linda Bryant in Minneapolis, Minn. They resided in Chippewa Falls, first living in a cottage on Lake Wissota. It was one of three houses built by the Corps of Engineers for workers who built the dam for lake Wissota. Then, he drew house plans for a handicapped accessible house where they lived until his stroke six years ago.

Ralph lovingly raised his two daughters, Julie and Kari during his first marriage to Beverly. He owned and operated RJ Halvorson Appraisals in Eau Claire from 1982 until his retirement in 2016, serving the Chippewa Valley in commercial real estate appraisals. He trained at several colleges and attained his MAI, the highest appraisal designation.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Julie Majkowski (Paul Thomas) of Eau Claire and Kari (Todd) Tollefson of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Spencer (Erin) Tollefson, Suzanne Griggs, and Sarah (Kyle) Baker; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Davis and Callen Tollefson; siblings, Ann Tiegan (Les Whisler) and Richard (Joan) Halvorson; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Janice (Bob) Davis and Alvin Halvorson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 14, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Jill Christopherson officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.

Military Honors by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at a later date at Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.

In lieu of flowers, we prefer donations to Wounded Warrior Project woundedwarriorproject.org The information for the donation should include his Service number 1156278 and rank of sergeant discharged April 1953 from the Korean War.

The Haley family Tom and Nancy

October 31, 2025

My husband and I were neighbors for a long time before he and his wife moved down to the flats in Chippewa Falls. We looked forward to seeing them often. So sorry Ralph. The Haley boys won't be greeting you at the flats anymore. If there were one in heaven they'd be there!

I knew Ralph and Linda when they lived on Lake Wissota in the homes built for supervisors who worked on the dam for St. Paul Power Co. back in the day. Unique lifestyle which they enjoyed.
