Robert N. Mayer , 80, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire as a result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born March 3, 1933, in the town of Tilden, the son of Raymond and Magdalene (Walter) Mayer. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, and served in the Navy for 20 years until his retirement. Bob worked for Amoco Foam Company in Chippewa Falls for many years.
Bob married Jane Goettl on Feb. 24, 1979, in Chippewa Falls. She died in 2012.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter, Cindy (Thomas ) Reiter of Chetek; granddaughter, Audrey (Justin) Kampin of Baldwin, and their children, Ava and Faith; grandson, Thomas Jr. (Bridget) Reiter of Chippewa Falls, and their children, Jack and Max; and grandson David Reiter of Chetek; three brothers, Ronald (Marie) Mayer, of Eau Claire, James (Mary Lou) Mayer of Chippewa Falls, and Donald Mayer of Jim Falls; three sisters, Loraine Schuebel of Boyd, Bernadine (Benedict) Grill of Bloomer, and Anita Boos of Stanley. Bob also will be missed by his faithful companion "Brownie."
Bob was preceded in death by: his wife, Jane; great-grandson, Shaun Reiter; parents; brother, Gerald (Evelyn) Mayer; sister, Virginia (Richard) Marek; brothers-in-law, Jim Schuebel and Delvin Boos; sister-in-law, Donna Mayer; and a nephew, Donald Mayer, Jr.
Private family services will be held at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
