Rosamond B. "Rose" Guse, 94, of the Augusta Area Nursing Home, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 17, 2012, at the home, where she had been a resident since August 2011.
Rosamond Betty Guse, daughter of William and Rose (Polinske) Glenz, was born June 17, 1918, in Seymour Township, rural Eau Claire. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Seymour and attended Oak Knoll Country School in the township. She was united in marriage to Everett Rueben Guse on Nov. 20, 1937, by Pastor Bittner in the parsonage of Zion Lutheran Church. The couple lived all of their married life in Ludington Township, until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1974.
Over the years, Rose had worked as a clerk at the Augusta Bakery for Bill Nelson and at Korth's I.G.A. She eventually took employment as a nurses aid, working first at the Eau Claire County Home and than at the Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Chippewa Falls, working there until her retirement. After her husband passed away, she continued to live in Chippewa Falls until 2000, when she was the first one to move into the St. Paul's Apartments in Augusta
Since her marriage, Rose had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ludington Township, and of its ladies society.
Rose was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved tending to her rose gardens and spent many enjoyable hours crocheting and making crochet items to give as gifts. She was very fond of angels and through the years had collected angels of all kinds and loved reading about them. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, who will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and caring heart.
She will be deeply missed by: her son, Roger and Nancy Guse of Augusta; daughter, Janice and Art Quimby of Eagan, Minn.; four grandchildren, Pamela (Jerry) Talcott of Seattle, Wash., Timothy (Janine) Graham of Farmington, Minn., Melinda (John) Rud of Rochester Minn., Matt (Vicki) Guse of Augusta; two brothers, Charles (Leona) Glenz of Milwaukee, Richard (Carol Sue) Glenz of Eau Claire; a sister, Patricia Douglas of Eau Claire; 10 great grandchildren and special friend, Patricia Bauch of Augusta. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Everett on April 11, 1991; sister, Lorraine in infancy; brother, Armond Glenz; and brother-in-law, Larry Douglas.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ludington Township, rural Fall Creek, with Pastor Cal Siegel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call 2 hours prior to services Saturday at the church.
The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
