Thorsten Edgeberg

Thorsten Frederick Thorpe Edgeberg passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at his home with his family at his side, four days after his 84th birthday. Thor was born Sept. 17, 1931, to Otto and Irma (Blair) Edgeberg.

Thor was born again on Feb. 16, 1974. He wrote in his Bible, "Today I give my Heart to Jesus."

Thor and Shirley were united in marriage on Dec. 17, 1949. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last December with their family.

Many will remember Thor hosting the radio show "The Party Line" when he worked at WMNE-WDMW for 22 years. Thor and Shirley also owned and operated the OZARK Rootbeer Stand and the Skate Shop.

Thor became an insurance agent and ran the Thor Edgeberg Agency for 33 years. He always took excellent care of his clients and enjoyed working with them. He retired at age 78.

Thor is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; daughter, Sharalyn (Greg); sons Eric (Shelly) and Kris (Mary); eight grandchildren, Eric and Shelly's children: Robert, Jeanne and William, Kris and Mary's children: Alicia, Adam, Amanda, Kayla and Kody. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; a great-niece, Pam (Kellen) Teig; as well as his relatives in Norway, Lars (Kirsten) Egeberg, Anna, and all their families.

Thor was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Irma Edgeberg; his sister, Sally Pederson; and her daughter, Judy.

A visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 pm on Monday, Sept. 28, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. Burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the Town of Dunn, Dunn County, at a later date.
