Walter L. "Wally" Fiedler, 68, of 612 W. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at his home with St. Joseph's Hospice.
He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Tomah, to Genevieve (Rosinek) and Harrison Fiedler. He grew up in Tomah and graduated from Tomah High School in 1954. He married Nancy Calkins on Dec. 18, 1954, in Chippewa Falls.
Wally served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 28, 1954, until Aug. 4, 1958, stationed in Norfolk, Va. After his honorable discharge, he was a jeweler and licensed watchmaker for over 40 years, owning Fiedler's Jewelry until he retired.
Wally married Karen Rasmus LaRonge on Aug. 15, 1981, in Chippewa Falls. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Chippewa Falls Elks Lodge #1326 B.P.O.E., a former member and president of the Chippewa Falls Lions Club, and past president of the Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include: his wife, Karen of Chippewa Falls; three daughters, Susan Glaeser of Rochester, Minn., Linda (David) Caradori and Renee (Lowell Berg) LaRonge, all of Chippewa Falls; three sons, Gregory (Kelly) Fiedler of Long Island, N.Y., Steven (Karla) Fiedler and David Fiedler, all of Chippewa Falls; three sisters, Joanne "Bunny" Griffin of Tomah, Mary (Bud) Bunde of Millston, Felecia (Duane) Thomas of West Salem; ten grandchildren, Stephanie and Shana Fiedler; Mary, Danny, and Susan Ralph; Katja Seitz; Brenna and Madelaine Glaeser; Mollie and Rachel Berg; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra, Chaplain of St. Joseph's Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Scandinavian Cemetery, town of Woodmohr.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until the time of service Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials in Wally's memory may be directed to St. Joseph's Hospice.
Wally loved to golf and fish. He also loved his morning coffee group, his Wednesday night card group; and especially loved traveling in his motor home.
