Kimberly Dawn (Haynes) Goodwin Edenton, NC - Kimberly Dawn Haynes Goodwin, 63, of 312 Bowens Rd., Edenton, NC passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

Kim was born on July 27, 1962, and was the daughter of the late Worth Hippensteel and Elsie Hassell Hare.

Kim held many roles over her 28 year career with the Department of Health and Human Services, in Chowan County and the state of North Carolina, where she recently retired. Kim was also a longtime member of Edenton Baptist Church.

Kim loved fishing on the Chowan River and watching sunsets from the river cottage. She enjoyed wagon and trail rides with their horses, alongside Joseph, around the farm and throughout eastern North Carolina. Kim supported the Chowan-Edenton Optimist Club as well as the Heritage Association.

Kim was a devoted wife and loving mama to Sarah, which were her favorite roles of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Sandra Hare Vail, Worth H. Hare, Jr., and Gail Hare Singh.

Kim is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph Wallace Goodwin III; her daughter Sarah Goodwin Trueblood and husband, Austin of Edenton; sisters, Iris Hare Olmstead (Allen Frank) of New Bern, and Salli Hare; and by her stepmother Sallie Layton Hare.

A funeral services was held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Edenton Baptist Church, 200 S. Granville St., Edenton, NC, and will be officiated by Dr. Koby Strawser and Rev. Bob Young. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall with the burial afterward at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC.
