Michael Boffo Obituary

Michael Anthony Boffo, MSGT, USMC (Ret.)
EDENTON - With profound sorrow and immense gratitude for the time we were blessed to have with him, we announce the passing of Michael A. Boffo on Saturday, February 1, 2025, a man of unwavering loyalty, deep love, and unshakable integrity. Though he left us far too soon, his impact on the lives of those who knew him will never fade. A devoted husband, a cherished father, a proud Pop Pop, a steadfast brother, a dedicated Marine, and a friend to all-Michael leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and purpose.
Born on March 30, 1960 in Steubenville, OH, he dedicated his life to the people he loved and the values he held dear. His heart belonged to his family, whom he protected, provided for, and cherished beyond measure. His love for Anne was an unbreakable bond, a partnership built on faith, respect, and endless devotion. As a father, he led with wisdom and compassion, instilling in his children the importance of integrity, hard work, and kindness. As a brother, he was a pillar of strength and loyalty. As a PopPop, he was a source of boundless warmth and joy, leaving behind many stories and lessons that will live on through them.
A Marine by both service and spirit for 27 years, Michael lived by the code of honor, courage, and commitment. His duty to his country was matched only by his dedication to his family and community. He worked tirelessly-not for recognition, but because he believed in doing what was right. His hands built, his heart guided, and his actions spoke louder than words. Whether offering a helping hand, standing up for what was just, or working from dawn until dusk, he showed what it meant to live with purpose.
While on Sundays he showed his support for the Steelers, on Saturdays there was no doubt where his loyalty stood-bleeding scarlet and gray, Michael was a devoted fan of THE Ohio State Buckeyes. His passion for Buckeye football was undeniable. "O-H" was always met with an enthusiastic "I-O," and no game day was complete without his unwavering support.
Though our hearts ache at his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his love endures in the lives he touched. He taught us that family is everything, that love is meant to be fierce, and that a life of integrity is a life well lived; you're only as good as your word.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Anne; children, Anna Marie Precythe (Kelley), Melanie Williams (Kevin), and Natalie Street (Steven); grandchildren, Connor, Emmalyn, and Michael; and brothers, Joe, Mark, and Steve.
His many nieces, nephews, and close friends will cherish his memory forever.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Helen Boffo, and his son, Michael A. Boffo, Jr.
A private family funeral mass was held on Friday, February 7th at St. Ann's Catholic Church. The family received visitors that evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. A burial with full military honors will be held Tuesday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that his legacy be honored by living with love, working with purpose, and always choosing to do what's right. For those wishing to carry forward Michael's legacy, please consider donating to the American Legion Post 40, 1317 W. Queen Street, Edenton, NC 27932.
Your love endures, your spirit lives on, and we know we will always have an extra voice cheering from above. Semper Fi, O-H...
