DORWIN L. FINGAR Dorwin L. Fingar, 81, of Bluff Point, N.Y., passed away June 27, 2024. A Memorial Service celebrating and remembering his life will be held Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at Bluff Point United Methodist Church followed by military honors and a reception at the church. Dorwin was born, raised and lived his entire life on Bluff Point where he loved the outdoors and especially deer hunting. He met his beautiful wife Blanche in Florida in the winter of 1959 and they were married March 17, 1962, in Lakeland, Fla. They then moved back to Bluff Point where he owned and operated Fingar Farms on Bluff Point, growing and selling his own grapes. He also worked for Town of Jerusalem Highway Department for seven years prior to owning his own vineyards. He was a member of Bluff Point United Methodist Church, Penn Yan Moose, and Penn Yan American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1972. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Blanche (Deas) Fingar; their daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Fuzzy (John) Andersen of Penn Yan; four grandchildren, Ruth Andersen (Nathanael Eck), Ryan Andersen, Hayley Andersen, and Miley Andersen; two great-grandchildren, Maddy and Nathanael Eck; and a large family of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and too many of which he was a father figure and role model. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Sedgwick of Florida. He was predeceased by his father Robert W. Fingar, his mother Marie (Scott) Fingar and his three brothers, Norman, Gordon and Gerald Fingar. In honoring Dorwin's memory, contributions can be made to the Bluff Point United Methodist Church at 3044 Kinneys Corners Rd, Bluff Point, NY 14478.
