NANCY KENNERSON Obituary

NANCY VIRGINIA KENNERSON PENN YAN - Nancy Virginia Kennerson passed away following a recent breast cancer diagnosis on October 26, 2024, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Per her request, Nancy will be honored in a private burial service with close family at a date to be determined. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army Camp Long Point or St. Michael's School in Penn Yan, N.Y. Nancy was born on September 27, 1945, to Elmer and Nellie (Thomas) Gould. She spent the entirety of her childhood and young adult life living at Camp Long Point on Seneca Lake, a place that she cherished. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy and then earned a certificate at Rochester Business Institute. Nancy married her high school sweetheart, John (Bob) Kennerson, on September 12, 1964. She worked for many years part-time at Jolley's Chevrolet and then became part of the family at Marbles Automotive where she loved her job and colleagues from 1990 until she retired in 2020. Nancy enjoyed spoiling her family and bragging about their accomplishments, as well as making memories with them, especially their family trips to St. Pete Beach, Fla. Nancy was predeceased by both parents, Elmer and Nellie Gould, as well as her beloved husband, Bob Kennerson. Nancy is survived by her best friend and daughter, Tammy (Andrew), grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Ervin of Hornell, N.Y., and Andrew (Morgan) Button of Dundee, N.Y., as well as her great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Elliott Ervin and Beaux Button, all of whom she adored and was so proud of. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Rosa Bryant, and nieces Jennifer (Ruben) Kennerson and Julie (Britt) Buchanan of Texas. Aunt Nancy and Uncle Bob are two of the most important and special people in my life. The summers I spent with them while growing up are among my most cherished and fond memories. I always felt so welcome and safe in their loving and joyous home. So many happy memories with two beautiful human beings. I will never forget Uncle Bob's mischievous smile or Aunt Nancy's distinctive laugh. I am comforted knowing that their souls have finally been reunited. Much love to my dear cousin, Tammy, and her wonderful children, who were as devoted to Aunt Nancy as she was to all of them.
