Sarah Anne Mortensen, 80, of
Greenville, Ohio, and formerly of Penn Yan and Dundee, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.
She was born on December 8, 1944, in Hammondsport, N.Y., to the late Bernard A. and Margaret E. (McConnell) Snyder.
In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Duane Mortensen, whom she married on July 23, 1965; her cherished son, Aaron Mortensen; her sister, Rosanna Bates; and her brother, Gordon Snyder.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her loving children: Christian (Christy) Mortensen of Greenville, Heather Fassett of Greenville, Earl (Nancy) Mortensen Jr. of Seneca Falls, N.Y., Cheri (Gary) Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, Brian (Del) Mortensen of California, Dorothy (Paul) Damato of New Jersey, and Tom (Oli) Mortensen of Louisiana; along with her many treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life.
Sarah's greatest joy was her family. Her heart was her home; always open, always warm, and always filled with love. She gave endlessly of herself, caring for others with a gentleness and strength that inspired everyone who knew her. Sarah was a protector, a nurturer, and a constant source of unconditional love.
For over 50 years, Sarah devoted her talents and dedication to Seneca Foods, where she served as an executive secretary. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church in Pulteney, N.Y., and proudly served in the Order of the Eastern Star in New York.
Sarah will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Though she has left this world, her legacy lives on in every heart she touched.

A visitation will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main Street in Penn Yan. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at Weldon Funeral Home. Burial will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 10 a.m. at Glen View Cemetery in Pulteney. Weldon Funeral Home and Tribute Funeral Homes are serving Sarah's family.
