Angela Suzanne (Freeman) Purtill, age 53, passed away on November 13, 2025, in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. Born on February 25, 1972, in Marion, Indiana, Angela lived a life marked by compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of others.
A 1990 graduate of Bennett High School, Angie went on to earn her degree from Purdue University in 1995. After completing her education, she made her home in Indianapolis for several years. It was during this time that her path led her to Joseph Purtill – the love of her life. Their bond brought Angela across the world to Australia, where they were married on August 20, 2011. Together they shared a full and joyful life rooted in love and mutual devotion.
Angie dedicated her professional life to serving children and families through Catholic Charities and other family service organizations. Her work focused on caring for underprivileged members of the community – a reflection of her deep compassion and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Angie had an unwavering devotion to Jesus and Mother Mary, and prayer was central to her daily routine. She found strength and purpose through the rosary and lived each day guided by love and humility.
Angie found joy in nature and spent many peaceful hours gardening and hiking. She also pursued an interest in holistic and natural healing methods and created her own business Botanical Body Balance where she was able to share her knowledge of different healing therapies with her community. Her gentle spirit shone through in every aspect of her life – whether she was tending to a garden bed or offering comfort to someone in need.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Joseph Purtill; father, Neal Freeman; brother, Craig (Lita) Freeman; sister, Amanda (Pree) Prioleau; nieces, Heather Jones, Jordan Prioleau, Paige Prioleau; nephew, Sebastian Prioleau; and great-nieces, Catherine Jones and Vivian Jones; uncle, John (Tracey) Luty; cousins, Rhonda and Brian Freeman.
Angie was preceded in death by her mother, Annette (Luty) Freeman; as well as her paternal and maternal grandparents; and her uncle, Larry Freeman.
Those who knew Angie will remember her as loving, kind-hearted, humble, faithful – and always ready with a warm conversation or a comforting word. She cherished time with children and held close bonds with friends, colleagues, and members of her community.
The funeral mass was held on November 20, 2025 at St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Mathoura, Australia. The burial was held following the mass. There will be a memorial mass celebrated in Marion when the date and time are determined. Online condolences may be made at www.owenweilertduncan.com.
