Bishop Joseph Horner 89, of Fortville, Indiana passed away November 26, 2025. Husband of his loving wife, Sylvia A. Burton Horner, whom he married February 1, 1964. He was born December 13, 1935 to the late Joseph C. and Alice (Motsch) Horner.
Joseph was a 1953 graduate of Marion High School, Marion, Indiana. He studied chemical engineering at Taylor University, Upland, Indiana and civil engineering at Indiana University, and received an associate's degree in machine repair. Joseph was a Surveyor with his father, Joseph C. Horner in Grant County since his youth. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1955-1957. After serving in the military, Joseph became a journeyman for General Motors for over 39 years. He received the Apostolic salvation in the spring of 1958 and was a Pastor of Geist Apostolic Church since 1993 and Bishop of Ministers Fellowship since 2005. Joseph was also a licensed Indiana Real Estate Broker for over 50 years. Joseph loved wildlife, especially beautiful geese, and birds. He raised white homing pigeons for many years. In the fall of each year, Joseph enjoyed the hunting season.
Visitation was held Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sylvia Ann Horner; children, Joseph Bradley Horner (Rachel), Lisa Horner Stephens, Reginald Lee Horner (Sarah); grandchildren, Izzabella Michele Horner, Joseph Asher Horner, Jaren Ley Horner, Joseph Anthony Horner, Anne-Maree Holden, Daniel Joseph Casey, Zachary David Christopher Latva (Keisha), Noah Lee Dakota Johnson, Samantha Silvianna Monique Stephens, Gracie Chaudion, Nathan Chaudion, Hannah Schram, Noah Schram and Gideon Horner; four great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, Congressman Dan Burton (Samia) and Indiana State Representative Woody Burton (Volley). He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert "Bob" Horner and Mike Horner; and sister, Patricia King. www.shirleybrothers.com
