Carol Denise (Barber) Batchelor was born May 5, 1964, in Marion, IN. She was one of four children of the late Rev Kenneth R & Eddie Mae Barber. Being the only girl at home, it was evident that all the brothers were protective of her, and she was immensely loved. Carol accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev B.T. Jackson at the Rising Star Church. On April 29, 1987, she joined and was a faithful member of the Greater New Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr Larry Batchelor where she was a member of the choir, and hospitality team.
Carol graduated from Marion High School in 1984 and later attended Ivy Tech Community College. She was employed for many years at Richards Restaurant, RCA, and most recently Radiant Health with many co-workers becoming friends & extended family. She enjoyed shopping, going to rummage sales, & watching Westerns on TV especially Gun Smoke & Rifleman. She enjoyed spending time with family, often hosting events for them in her home and spending late nights on her back porch sweeping, listening to music, laughing together, and telling stories with her neighbor Mary Jackson.
Carol married the love of her life, the late Don Wayne Batchelor, on November 16, 1985, and to this union two children were born, Kenneth and Danielle.
Imagine the reunion on Friday, March 7th when Carol peacefully went to sleep on earth and woke up in her eternal home in heaven where her baby girl Danille and the love of her life Don greeted and welcomed her into heaven. Once again, all together with their heavenly father. It was evident Carol missed them both and longed for the day they would all reunite.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Kenneth "Dontez" Batchelor of Dallas, Texas, Brian & Ryan Rupert of Marion, Indiana, and her father Tommy Elkins of Covington, TN. Four granddaughters Maddison Higginbotham, Alexus Rupert, Rhianna Rupert, and Kimber Rupert, and two grandsons Tyrone Holmes, and Poseidon.
She also leaves to cherish her memories, her brothers & sisters: Kenneth (Tonya) Barber of Marion IN, James Barber of Anderson, IN, Anthony (Tasha) Barber of Ft Worth, Texas. Pastor Jimmie D Batchelor J, & Dr. Larry Batchelor both of Marion, In, Michael Batchelor of Brownsville, TN, Judy Batchelor of Racine, WI, and Lula Frances Drake of Marion, IN.
Carol was loved by so many including her special friends Novella Bryant, Edna Adams, Theresa Johnson, and Willie & Francine Lewis. Also, she shared a special bond with all of her nieces & nephews. A host of extended family, cousins, friends, and her favorite pet Cup Cake will also cherish her memory.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Don Batchelor, her daughter Danielle Batchelor-Green, her parents, Rev Kenneth R & Eddie Mae Barber, Jimmie D. Sr & Martha Batchelor, and Beulah Elkins. Her brothers RV & Thomas Batchelor, and Sister Lillie Jean Jones.
Services will be held on Saturday March 22nd at Greater New Light Baptist Church at 303 W. 14th St. Marion, IN 46953. Visitation will be from 11am to 12pm. The Funeral begins at 12pm. Services Entrusted to Gholar and Gholar Funeral Services. Gholarfs.com.

I'm truly thankful for the brief time that my grandson Malik (Poseidon) was given over a year of love and inclusion of us all as best you could. I couldn't have asked for anything more selfless and caring.
I so wished and prayed it would have continued much longer, but I have absolutely no regrets for the wonderful year we had. Thanks for reaching out and enjoying my grandson and working with me as one.
Love ya and truly miss ya... your cuz Sandy
