Carol J. Mason, 91, passed away on Thursday morning, Oct. 6, 2022, at University Nursing Center in Upland, Indiana. Carol was born on June 17, 1931, to the late Vearl Hults and Flossie Goodwin. She married Orville Mason and he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1992. Carol worked as a dedicated farm wife, raising their four children. She was a member of Grace Community Church and the YMCA. She had previously been a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards, her favorite game being euchre. She also liked fishing, gardening, and working on word puzzles.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Kris (Nan Brankle) and Dean (Barbara House) Mason, both of Marion; daughter, Lorna (Steve) Cessna, Brunswick, Georgia; two foster sons, Richard (Melody) and Frank (Tricia) Mason, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and grandson, Eric Mason, Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vearl and Flossie; husband, Orville; son, Arthur Berle Mason; foster son, Tom Mason; foster daughter, Teressa Brumfiel; sister, Pauline Hunter-Gruver; brother, Charles Hults; and grandchildren, Joseph and Heidi Mason.
Arrangements for Carol have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m., with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.
