Send FlowersCharles A. Landis, age 67, of Marion, Indiana, passed away at 4:10 am on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at University Nursing Center in Upland.
Born on November 28, 1957, in Marion, Charles was the son of Dale Myron Landis and Norma Jean (Marshall) Landis. He graduated from Marion High School in 1976 and went on to attend Ball State University.
Charles dedicated many years of his life to journalism, working as a sports reporter for the Chronicle-Tribune. His passion for local sports was evident in his coverage of the Marion Giants, and he especially enjoyed reporting on their basketball games. He even lent his voice to post-game commentary on local radio broadcasts. A devoted fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Indianapolis Colts, Charles found joy in following his favorite teams and sharing that enthusiasm with others. Charles loved his family and especially enjoyed his mother's cooking.
Charles is survived by his sister, Lezlie K. (James) Cousins of Marion; nephews, Kevin (Modena) Cousins and Kyle Cousins; and his great-niece, Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Charles' life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
