Daniel E. Mullenix

1940 - 2021

Daniel E. Mullenix, 80, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Daniel was born on Nov. 29, 1940, to the late Edgar and Cecile Mullenix. On March 27, 1981, he married Melinda Long. She survives. Daniel joined the Navy when he was 17. After serving in the military, he became an electrician for AEP, and eventually became a manager of building maintenance. He was a member of Eastview Wesleyan Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, and coaching baseball, but most of all, he was an amazing husband, dad, and papaw.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Melinda; children, Kathy Sheets, Matthews, Michelle (James) McKinnie, Landess, and Bryan (Tammy) Mullenix, Marion; sisters, Patty (Greg) Rifner, Yorktown, and Irene (John) Hale, Marion; brother, Michael Mullenix, Marion; grandchildren, Tye, Kody, Kory, Alexus, Logen, Allison, and Layna; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Cecile; daughter, Melinda Hicks; and brothers, Tom and Paul Mullenix.

Arrangements for Daniel have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, where a visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow with Pastors Mark Atkinson and Ken Dykhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery.
