Floyd Franklin Thrailkill, 89, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2022 at Envive of Hartford City.
He was born in Marion on Sept. 13, 1932 to Roscoe Daniel Thrailkill and Josephine (Griffin) Thrailkill. His parents preceded him in death.
Floyd graduated from Van Buren High School in 1950 and graduated from Ball State University in 1957. He also earned his Master's Degree from Michigan State University.
He married Carolyn Sue (Kennedy) Thrailkill on July 26, 1951 at Van Buren Church of the Nazarene. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last July.
Floyd served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
He retired in 1999 from Mississinewa Community School Corporation, where he was a High School Counselor.
Floyd was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hartford City.
He enjoyed being outside fishing and hunting, he also enjoyed reading. He was a dedicated family man and very proud of his children and grandchildren.
Floyd will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 70 years, Carolyn Sue Thrailkill of Hartford City; son, Gary F. (wife, Sherry L.) Thrailkill of Asheville, NC; daughter, Teresa S. (husband, Kevin E.) Conner of Hartford City; grandchildren, Danielle (husband, Clint) Dickey, Kaitlin (husband, J.W.) Rinker, Matthew (wife, Wynne) Thrailkill and Joshua Thrailkill; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Dickey, Cole Dickey, Conner Dickey, Brantley Rinker, Seren Thrailkill and Carys Thrailkill; brother, Rev. Robert D. (wife, Jennifer) Thrailkill of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Mary Bolinger of Marion and Darlene (husband, James) Benbow of Kendallville; several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his sister, Susan Cox.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City with his brother, Rev. Robert Thrailkill officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2022 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
