Frederick Dawalt Obituary

Frederick W. "Wayne" Dawalt, age 85, of Indianapolis, passed peacefully into the Lord's presence on September 19, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn, his seven children Joseph (Teresa) Dawalt, Elizabeth (Sean) McGraw, Veronica (Rodney) Soultz, Jennifer (Grant) Bauserman, Margaret (Michael) Martin, Robert Dawalt, and Amanda (Eddie) Deal; 19 grandchildren Christopher, Taylor, Alex, Nadia, Grace, Catherine, Sara, Madison, Morgan, Greyson, Colton, Duncan, Mae, Tanner, Tanner, Paige, Andrew, Zachary, Kyle, and Shelby, and 1 great-grandchild Alice. He also leaves behind sisters Anna and Dona.

He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Theresia, brother Thomas and sister Mary.

Wayne was born June 28, 1938, in Van Buren, Indiana. He graduated from St Paul's Catholic School in Marion, Indiana, in 1956. He was a veteran of the Army, serving a year near the demilitarized zone of Korea during his service. He later was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, where he served in the Honor Guard and as post chaplain. Wayne also retired as an electrician from BICC in Marion. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 22nd from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. Franklin, IN 46131 with a Rosary being held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Dr., Franklin, IN 46131.

Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date with military honors being conducted.
