Howard L. Mundt

Howard L. Mundt 94, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5,2025, in Marion. Howard was born on January 2, 1931, in Fort Wayne, to the late Martin L. Mundt and May M. (Kirkup) Mundt. He graduated from Leo High School, class of 1949. After graduating, Howard worked at Retail Credit Company, in Marion. He later went on to Bank One of Marion, where he later became Vice President.

Howard married the late, Barbara J. (Waggoner) Mundt, on July 1, 1950, at Grace Lutheran Church, in Fort Wayne with Rev. Fred Holtmeyer officiating. The two of them met in kindergarten, in 1936, at John S. Irwin School, in Fort Wayne. In 1937, in the first grade, there was a gift exchange where Howard had given Barbara a necklace with a locket on it. The two of them spent 70 wonderful years of marriage together.

Howard was one of a kind, he loved to make people laugh. He was outgoing and always had a smile on his face. Howard and Barbara enjoyed spending time with their stamp business after retirement. He was known to have thousands of stamps, from a little bit of everywhere. Howard was a member of the Exchange Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce (Exhausted Roosters), Chamber of Commerces, Trustee of Lafontaine UMC, Howard attended the Sims Wesleyan Church, a Sunday school teacher and leader of troop 225 Boy Scouts.

Howard is survived by his children, Michael (Karen) Mundt, Sulphur, LA; Pam (John) Finney, La Fontaine; and Cindy (Thomas) Hughes, La Fontaine; grandchildren, Angie Benner, Brian (Jennifer) Finney, Ian (Jen) Mundt, and Adam (Hannah) Follin; great-grandchildren, Emily Benner, Ariel Benner, Lexi Finney, Courtney Finney, Gary Follin, and Gregor Mundt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin L. Mundt and May M. (Kirkup) Mundt; wife, Barbara J. (Waggoner) Mundt; sister Elizabeth Niblick and brothers, Donald Mundt, Robert Mundt and Larry Mundt.

Arrangements for Howard have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. Where there will be a visitation held on Friday May 9, 2025 from 4-7 P.M, On Saturday, May 10, 2025 there will be a visitation held from 10-11 A.M., with the funeral services beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Brian Williams. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
