Howard E. Richardson, 90, of Converse, passed away at 9:35 pm on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was born in Mexico, Indiana, on June 29, 1934, to Jacob and Bessie (Bowerman) Richardson. On September 10, 1960, he married Arliss Hodson. They were married 52 years until her passing in 2013.
Howard graduated from Mexico High School class of 1952 and was a truck driver for 21 years with Roadway Express, retiring in 1995. He was a TEAMSTERS steward for the local union for several years. Howard was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1954 to 1956 and achieving the rank of SP3.
Howard had a passion for hot rod cars and all things shiny. He was a real gear head who loved his grandkids and all sports, especially Oak Hill High and local sports. He enjoyed hunting in his younger days, vacations, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with family.
He is survived by his children, Sharon (Paul) Gibson of Bloomington, Scott (Brenda) Richardson of Fort Wayne, Jackie (Jeff) Couch of Swayzee, and James (Linda) Oldaker of Vero Beach, FL; sisters, Laura Jane (Larry) Godfroy and Judy Case; grandchildren, Tara (Clay) Slaughter, Adam (Hannah) Gibson, Ryan (Hannah) Skeens, and Evan Couch; and great-grandchildren, Ellis, Calvin, Hudson, Ella, Kynlee, and Taysom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob E. Richardson and Bessie M. Boone; son, John Oldaker; brother, Harold (Meredith) Richardson; and wife, Arliss Richardson.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, a service to celebrate Howard's life will begin at 10:00 am with Pastor Mike Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Converse Cemetery.
