James W. Lindsey, age 82, of Markle (formerly of Marion), passed away peacefully at 10:17 pm on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation. He was born on November 12, 1942, in Marion, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Thelma (Peak) Lindsey.
James had a passion for electronics and enjoyed tinkering with gadgets. He was also a talented artist who loved to draw and create. Known for his outgoing nature and infectious laugh, James never met a stranger and cherished conversations with others.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Lindsey of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Mildred Lindsey of Carson, CA; seven nieces: Brenda K. (Bud) Shelton of Marion, IN, Sandra L. Marke of Burtonville, MD, Kim (Ali) Kargbo, Juanita Robinson Mayhak (Gary), Angela Lindsey, Sovonya Lindsey, and Joy Lynn McCowan Oliver; six nephews: Larry (Mary) Bailey, Dennis Lindsey, Michael Bounds, Sr., Jamie McFarland, Chris Lindsey, and Dewayne Vinson; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diedra (Davis) Lindsey; three brothers: Arthur Lindsey, II, Ora Leroy (Lillie) Lindsey, Sr., and Charles E. Lindsey; two sisters: Thelma Bounds and Laurabelle (Charles) Payne; and two nephews: Alvin J. Lindsey and Ora Leroy Lindsey, Jr.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Grant Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate James' life will begin at 1:00 pm. Superintendent Samuel L. King, Sr., will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
