Kenneth B. Leavitt, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Marion Health, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories and a legacy of laughter. Born on July 15, 1967, to the late Sherry Leavitt and Sarah Hammitt, Kenny grew up with a spirit full of enthusiasm.
A proud graduate of Eastbrook High School, class of 1985, Kenny pursued his passion for mechanics at the University of Northwestern Ohio, earning his degree in 1986 and embarking on a notable career as a diesel mechanic. His talent and tenacity saw him thrive as a heavy equipment operator and as the owner of Leavitt Excavating, where his affection for large, heavy-duty vehicles found its perfect outlet.
Kenny's commitment to his community was evident in his active participation with the Upland Lions Club and his dedicated service as a volunteer firefighter with the Upland Volunteer Fire Department. His love for people shone brightly through his charismatic personality, effortlessly making those around him laugh and feel at ease. He cherished his time at Central Christian Church of Van Buren, attending with his son, Kody.
Among Kenny's many joys, none surpassed his love for his grandchildren. The highlight of his life was spent creating beautiful memories with them, whether through shared laughter, weekend adventures, or simple moments spent in each other's company. An enthusiast of all things NASCAR, he reveled in the thrill of the races, going to truck pulls, and enjoyed road trips through the Smoky Mountains, where his love for nature found its home.
Kenny is survived by his daughter, Katie (Kyle) Stanley; son, Kody Leavitt; grandchildren, Natalie, John, and Hadley; siblings, Laurie Leavitt, Patty (John) Schlachter, Kathryn (Kevin) Carpenter, and Jerry Leavitt; close family friends, Chris Barker and Hadley Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherry and Sarah, and son, Kenneth "Robert" Leavitt.
