Nancy Allen Obituary

Nancy C. Allen, 69 of Fairmount, died Friday, March 22, 2024, with her family by her side, at Wesleyan Health Care after a valiant battle with cancer.

Nancy was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on January 9, 1955, daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Munson) Teichman and biological mother, Stella Shultz. Nancy graduated from Eau Claire, Michigan High School in 1973. Nancy stumbled upon her own business venture one year by accidently growing too many pumpkins, which she sold in her front yard. The next year it became tradition and bloomed into a yearly event. As the years went on, Sturdee Pumpkins grew. It started out as just extra pumpkins then evolved into having a display in the yard of characters that she created herself. The business eventually moved to a new location in the city of Sodus, where she then added a haunted house and hayride for families to enjoy as well. Nancy loved Halloween and more than anything she enjoyed sharing her passion with everyone. Her love for Halloween continued throughout her life as she also enjoyed attending Halloween exhibits with all of her haunt friends, and owned 5 hearses. Nancy moved to Fairmount from Michigan 20 years ago when she met her husband while buying Halloween items on ebay. Nancy also worked at both video stores in Fairmount and was a salesclerk at Kohl's in Marion. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and huge heart. She was always helping others in need.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Jon Tucker, Fairmount; daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Mahar, Niles, MI; son, Michael (Allie Rose) Sturdee, New Era, MI; seven grandchildren; siblings, Susan Ferguson, Eau Claire, MI, Gerald Shultz, West Fork AR, Margaret Shultz, and Jeff Shultz, both of Elkhart, IN, Daniel Shultz Mason, WV, mother-in-law Mary Tucker, and brother in-law, Tony Tucker both of Fairmount, IN.

Arrangements for Nancy have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 11 AM -1 PM with the funeral service beginning at 1 PM with Pastor Ted Payne officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024 at South Berrien Union Church and Cemetery, Berrien Center, MI.
