Our Darling Beverly Roberts Mulder, known to all as Bev, died April 18, 2022, the day after Easter, after a fairly brief bout of Alzheimer's disease.
Our family has lost a wonderful mother, friend and wife. She was adored by her husband Jack, of almost 64 years, son and daughter, grand and great-grandkids and many old and newer friends. She was born to John W. Roberts and Dorothy Williams in Hempstead, Long Island, New York on July 9, 1932. They soon moved to Bloomfield, NJ to be closer to family and Bev grew up there, graduating BHS in 1947. Early on, she decided to pursue a career in nursing and attended a two year pre-nursing course at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. She then transferred to Columbia University's highly rated nursing program, graduating in 1955. She met Jack Mulder at a Christmas party in 1956, and they were married June 7, 1958. After living over several years in Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Skaneateles, NY, Jack was transferred to the home office of his employer, Chubb & Son insurance company, and they moved to Ridgewood, NJ. There, Bev employed her nursing skills at Vally Hospital helping them in setting up a new Cardiac Care unit.
After 2 years, with occasional stints as school nurse, and with some additional training, she went into Public Health work. There, she cared for citizens in need, from the very young to the elderly, retiring in 1996. Jack retired in 1998 and they built their new home in Homosassa, FL, moving in December, 1999. Until the end, their retirement had been idyllic, involving travel to every continent but Australia, happy times with family and friends, reading clubs, good music and food and wine. Who could ask for anything more.
She is survived by Jack; son, John Scott of Melbourne, FL and daughter, Carolyn Baumgarten, of Bellingham, WA; brother John W. Roberts, Jr., of Cambridge, MA ; grandkids, Nikolas of Manhattan, NY, Jessica Casas of Hull, MA, Olivia of Huntington Beach, CA, Ava Baumgarten of Bellingham, WA and great-grandson Miles Casas of Hull, M;, as well as loving in-laws, cousins and friends.
Visitation at Brown Funeral Home in Lecanto will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 12PM-2PM with a Memorial Service starting at 2PM. Gifts to a favorite charity in her name would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
