Carol Sayers Obituary

Carol Lynne Sayers was born in Tampa, Florida to Oscar and Charlotte Sayers on January 6, 1947, and passed away peacefully in Ocala on Thursday, October 30, 2014. She had two brothers, William (Bill) Sayers and James (Jimmy) Sayers. She was a graduate of Chamberlain High School. Over her lifetime her employers included Bell South, Florida Power in Crystal River, AT&T, and Dunnellon First Assembly of God. Her favorite position was when she was able to be a homemaker while serving as a military spouse and moving around the country. She made her home in Dunnellon.
Carol is survived by daughters, Crystal Walters Dethlefs, (Mike) of Dunnellon and Summer Walters Dossey (Jim) of Ocala; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her beloved brother, William (Bill) Sayers and his wife, Catherine (Kate) Sayers of Inglis; along with six nieces and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Charlotte Sayers; and her brother, Jimmy; and her ex-husband (whom she was married to for 31 years), Robert L. Walters, Jr.
Carol never met a stranger and spent her life serving God by loving her family and friends and sharing God's redemptive power. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her but we are comforted in knowing she is now with her Father God in Heaven dancing on streets of gold and we shall meet again.
A sunset memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Dunnellon First Assembly of God with Pastor Tom Golden officiating.

Remembering Carol on the anniversary of her death. She is always in my heart . I met her in 2001, when I first moved to Dunnellon. She greeted me with open arms and was one of the warmest, kindest persons I had ever met. My husband and I will never forget her.

I just can't say enough good things about Carol Sayers. I met her 13 years ago. To me, she was a great woman of God. Always had a smile on her face, always pleasant, always kind and sweet, always had time for you no matter what she was doing. I still see her sitting in the front pew praising God and saying, "That's right" when the Pastor was preaching. She was a wonderful mom to her beautiful daughters, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all of us. There are few people in this world like Carol; and she touched many lives with her kindness and her spirit.

Carol was a unique human being; she was always friendly, smiling, and extremely compassionate. My husband and I were drawn to her immediately. She was always there for us through the good and bad times. She is now resting in eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ; until we meet again Carol!
