The Service of Remembrance for Mr. David Johns, age 71, of Inverness, Florida, will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday at the Inverness Chapel. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations be made David's name to an organization of your choice.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com. David was born February 16, 1954 in Charleston, WV, son of Darius and Mary (Balser) Johns. He passed away May 12, 2025 in Inverness, FL. While living in St. Petersburg, FL, David was employed with Florida Power now known as Duke Energy as a meter reader, later he worked as a Truck Driver hauling for various companies.
He moved to Inverness, Florida from St. Petersburg, FL in the 1990's. David loved cars and was especially proud of his Chevrolet SSR. He loved to work with his hands and to be outdoors. One of his favorite outdoor activity was canoeing. David was described as a kind and generous man, who took the time to help those in need.
He was preceded in death by father, Darius Elbert Johns, mother, Mary Alice Johns, and his loving wife Joyce M. Johns. Survivors include son, Christopher Herring of Largo, FL, daughter, Nicole Ahrens of Hernando, FL, brothers; Roger (Susan) Johns of Cincinnati, OH, and Kenneth (Joy) Johns of Raleigh, NC, sister, Diana (Paul) Humphreys of Charleston, NC, 3 grandchildren, Ayden Ahrens, Sydney Herring & Cameron Herring, niece, Tonya Humphreys, uncle, Daniel Johns of Indian Rocks Beach and sister in law, Ginger Jaspers, Clearwater, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
