Donald William Elliott, 87, Hernando, died at his home on Sunday, Oct. 17 under the care of HPH Hospice of Citrus County. He was born on Aug. 16, 1934 in Framingham, MA to Norman and Hilda (Dott) Elliott and lived the majority of his life in that state. He, along with his wife of 47 years, Noreen, retired to Citrus County in 2000. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for four years, Don earned his pilot's license and spent several years as a private pilot for several corporations before beginning a career with the Valpey Fisher Corporation, a global leader in equipment for digital and optical communications. After 38 years traveling the world on behalf of the company, he retired as a sales manager. An avid golfer, he was a former member of Twisted Oaks Golf Club and enjoyed numerous trips to Ireland and Scotland to play courses in those countries. He was also an avid Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics fan. In addition to his parents, three siblings preceded him in death: brothers, Norman "Buster" Elliott, Jr., and Robert Elliott, and a sister, Doris Elliott Hopkins. Survivors include his wife, Noreen (Russell) Elliott of Hernando, a daughter, Jamie Dawne Tower and her husband, Paul, of Foxboro, MA, and a grandson, Nyles Tower. A memorial service and internment will be held in the spring at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne National Cemetery on Cape Cod.
