Mr. Donald E. Smith, age 75 years, of Beverly Hills, Florida, died Thursday, February 16th, 2017 at his home in Beverly Hills.
He was born May 11, 1941 in Marion, OH, son of Robert and Clara (Thompson) Smith. He graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1959. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. In 1961 he married Catherine I. Latosky and two sons and one daughter were born to this Union. Following his faithful and dedicated service to his country he worked as a carpenter for Dow Chemical in Midland, MI until retirement. In 1984 he was united in marriage to Beverly J. Cox. They moved to Beverly Hills, Florida in 1996. Don cherished the many wonderful memories that he and Beverly shared. Beverly, his family, and his dog Misty were his life. Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, boating, and most of all spending time on Wixom Lake in Michigan. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Casino trips were one of Don's favorite pastimes. He also became an avid bingo player and enjoyed the many friends he had come to know. He was a member of The Loyal Order of Moose and The American Legion. He was a chief steward in USW Local 12075.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly J. Smith, son, Gene Smith, and a sister, Nancy Kearns. Survivors include son, Kevin (Tammy) Smith of Midland, MI, daughter, Carla (Rob) Clark of Midland, MI, stepdaughter, Dawn (Steve) Rozich of Charlotte, NC, brother, James "Ted" Smith of Marion, OH, sister, Sue (Perry) Brammer of Marion, OH, Grandchildren Alex, Devin, Chelsea, Tyler, Cheyenne, Danielle, Madison, Colton, and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. In addition he leaves behind a very special friend Dennis.
