Dorothy "DOT" Kenney (nee Platt), age 100 of Inverness, FL, died at Diamond Ridge Rehab in Lecanto, FL, on July 25, 2022. She was born September 23, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Charles and Emily Platt. She married George Kenney in 1943. After retirement the Kenney's moved from Valley Stream, NY, to Inverness in 1970.
George was retired from the New York Sanitation Department and Dorothy was a homemaker. Both Dorothy and George joined and became active members of the Eugene Quinn VFW where they were instrumental in organizing and running fundraisers to support the growth and development of the VFW.
Mrs. Kenney was preceded in death by her husband George and her three children, George, Barbara and Susan. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Marion, Ruth, Charles and Thomas.
She is survived by her grandchildren, John and Elisabeth, great-grandchildren, Patrick and Shaun, daughter in law, Lynn, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for DOT will be held 12:00 PM, Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness, Florida. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Monday at the Chapel.
