Ernest Rusaw Obituary
Ernest George Rusaw, 72, of Lecanto, Florida passed away on July 29, 2025. He was born on October 21, 1952 in Bay Village Ohio, son of Ernest S. Rusaw and Doris Rusaw.
George was the owner/President of Rusaw Homes from 1976-2008, constructing over 3,000 homes and developing Oak Ridge subdivision, Beverly Hills. He co-founded the Citrus County Builders Association and served as its first president He was awarded the 1993 Florida Association of Home Builders "Builder of the Year" award. George was the founding organizer/shareholder of Citrus National Bank 1987-1994 and its President & CEO 1991-1994. He served on numerous Citrus County Boards and committees. George worked with Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County from 2011 until his retirement in July of 2025. He assisted Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County to develop Southern Pines subdivision and Habitat subdivision in Citrus Springs.
George is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brigitte; Son, William Craig Rusaw (Christine); grandchildren, Ashton Rusaw (Ariana), Dylan Rusaw (Brooke) and Adyson Rusaw; sister Lynda Ghaedi (Moe) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025 from 11:00 to 2:00 at the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club. Join us in celebrating a kind man and a life that was very well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity of Citrus County, P.O. Box 1041, Crystal River, FL 34423.

I attended Farragut with George....I had no direct dealings with him, but I am aware that he was well respected, and was of high moral character.

George was my roommate my senior year at Farragut. He was a great friend and with his cool demeanor, helped smooth out my sometimes volatile tendencies (like punching out a tree). I became a corvette enthusiast because of him and his 1965 Stingray. I eventually fulfilled a promise to myself to own a vet and eventually had two thanks to George. Maybe someday we will meet again in the hereafter and compare notes on cars and the fun times we had at AFA. Until then, Rest in Peace my friend.

Very sorry to see the passing of George!
Prayers to family... I met George in early 80's he was always so very nice wether at his office or on the job! At ccba or at a county function. RIP George gone to soon!

George and Bridget came into our lives in 1988 when they brought Tammie and I back home to Citrus County hiring me as VP of Construction at Rusaw Homes while Oak Ridge was underway. George and Bridget took us in like family and were so supportive of our young family. We learned a tremendous amount about the residential home building business from these fine people and for that we will be forever grateful. Bridget, may God give you peace and comfort in all the days to come as we know how much you loved Ernest George Rusaw. George was an easy man to love and respect. He carved the way for quality built homes for Citrus County and set the bar high for us. May God Bless you and your family Bridget.

I met George in 1983 and he described the value of participation in the Citrus County Buiders' Association as a great way to give back to the community that provided a living for the industry and homes for the residents of the society we call Citrus County to enjoy.
George Rusaw as a Director of the CCBA with conservative values, high moral standards, and level headed planning. George has served as mentor and inspiration to hundreds who became leaders in the industry under his guidance and wisdom.
I am absolutely positive his family and those whose life he touched will remember George fondly and often. My wife, Marcie, and I will be praying that Brigitte and the rest of the family have the strength to cope with this great loss.
