Gustave Lambert Obituary

REIDSVILLE – Gustave E. "Gus" Lambert, 93, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Annie Penn Hospital.
Gus was born to the late George Lambert, Sr. and Delia Graveline Lambert on October 27, 1922 in Norwich, CT and was raised in Occum, CT. He spent most of his adult life in Lisbon CT and the last 20 years in Crystal River, FL until moving to Reidsville this past year to be close to family. Gus joined the Army during WWII and entered the Africa Campaign and made three beach landings in Italy as a combat medic, receiving a Purple Heart Medal. Upon return, he became a Burnt Clay Artist (Mason/Brick Layer) and a contractor working with his father, brothers and Uncle Ted. He was an avid horseman for most of his life and owned the Norwich Marina and Reliapon Auto Body for several years. He retired from Seaside Sanitorium in Waterford, CT and shortly thereafter moved to Crystal River, Florida with his wife, Shirley.
He enjoyed fishing and auctions and was a life member of DAV and the American Legion. There was not a horse that he could not train or get along with. Gus used his Yankee ingenuity to fix and build anything. Gus will now join his fellow horse enthusiasts riding in the sky that have gone before him; Bucky, John, Louie, Rebel, Jimmy, Knobby and Donald.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ulrich Lambert; brothers, George Lambert, Jr. and Herbert Lambert and two infant sisters.
He is survived by his sons, G. Michael and wife Deborah of Reidsville, NC, Kim A. and wife Elizabeth of Spring Valley, CA, Gregg E. and wife Julia of West Jefferson, OH; granddaughter, Christin Lukondi and husband, Rob of Bethel Park, PA; several cousins, nieces, nephews and his special friend, Julia in FL.
The family will have a memorial service in Florida at a later date.
Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be sent to www.wilkersonfuneral.com.

Gus was one of the reasons I started showing horses I learned so much from him by just listening to him tell stories or coach others. He was a no nonsense man and he will be missed R.I.P Gus.

My Dad and Gus.

I learned everything I know about horses from Gus. If it hadn't been for him I never would have gotten a horse. Growing up I always looked forward to spending the weekend at Gus' with Michael and Kim riding horses. (Gregg was little at the time.) Those were fun times. RIP Gus. I'll never forget the good times. Say hi to my Dad, John and Bucky for me.
