Janet Lea Norton, 72 of Inverness, FL, passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2022, at her home under the loving care of her family. Janet was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 18, 1950 to the late Jefferson H. and Rosalea (Webster) Cox. She came to Citrus County 30 years ago from Orlando, FL.
Janet enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the Citrus County School board and finally retired in the position of Compliance Facilitator to spend time with her family. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Inverness. Christmas was Janet's favorite time of year. She loved watching Christmas movies and decorating her home. An avid coffee drinker and scrapbooker, Janet also enjoyed board games, cards and playing with her grandson, Brogan, especially when it came to his baseball games. Janet had a heart for all animals especially her cat.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, of 44 years, Lewis (Skip) Norton; her son Brett L. Norton and wife Kerry, of Inverness and her grandson, Brogan; her two sisters: Cam Campbell of Inverness, Cindy Berry and her husband Ken Berry of Jupiter Beach FL. Also, she was a cherished Aunt to Christine Blasband as well as Christine's husband Drew, her 3 grandnieces and her nephew, Rob Berry.
Janet made a personal investment into every life she cared about and the impact of her loss has been felt deeply by all who loved her.
Following cremation, Janet will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. FL.
