John Woelfel Obituary

John R. Woelfel, 96, passed away on February 22, 2010. Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Riverhaven Village Community Clubhouse, 11450 West Riverhaven Drive, Homosassa, (352) 628-7111.
John was born on Feb. 19, 1914, in NYC. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Irma. After working as a refrigeration service man for Kelvinator, he produced sophisticated test equipment for U.S. bombers during WWII. He joined IBM in 1965 in Vermont, distinguishing himself as an expert troubleshooter on a complex computer chip production line. After they both retired in 1978, he and Irma headed for warmer country, settling in Homosassa. They both enjoyed the community and all the wonderful friends they made. John was a kind, gentle man, a wonderful husband and great father.
Survivors: sons John (and MaryEllen) Woelfel of Ocala and Bob (and Sandy) Woelfel of Arlington, TX; 2 nephews, 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Woelfel...What a wonderful soul...He was one of my very special customers at CVS pharmacy in Homosassa for many years. I enjoyed every visit with him. I would ask "How are we doing today?" and he would say either with a thumbs up or down and a smile or "icky" face...And would remind me of exactly how old he was...which always impressed me!!! I have since taken a new position out of the store so I was not aware of his passing...but he is one of my customers that I missed and will always!!! May he rest in peace with Mrs. Irma Jackie Schell....Pharmacy Tech @ CVS

As a fellow WOELFEL from WI-- I want to extend sympathy to the family. My uncle was also named John who passed about 4 years ago. Life has a strange
way of renewing friendships.
