Keenan was my best friend, my brother, my jam partner. He was always the nicest, dramatically funny, and charismatic dude in the room. Coming up on a year now and it still doesn´t feel real. Miss you every day, Keekee. We´ll jam together again one day.

I'm thinking about Keenan today. I met him in Gainesville, around 2016. My friend Stephan and I were managing a large urban garden in the middle of downtown, and got to know Keenan through our neighbors. He took to gardening immediately, his natural curiosity and enthusiasm shining through as he helped us in the field, chatting with us about music, politics, life, love, philosophy, anything. We stayed in touch sporadically through the years, I went to his little homestead near Williston a couple times to help with some tree work and hang out. We hadn't spoken much for awhile before his death, life gets busy. But I was able to keep up with his life a bit through social media, and was so inspired by his career path in agriculture. Keenan had an indomitable spirit, a boundless energy, a significant capacity for love. He was a bright star, and his impression on me, however brief and scattered, I will always remember. Hearing of his passing was shocking, and all these months later he's still on my mind. So I felt like sharing this, that someone he loved might read it, and feel a bit closer to him today. Pictured is Keenan in the middle of myself and a few friends, after a large sweet potato harvest in the garden.
