Kenneth Myron Meltesen

Kenneth Myron Meltesen of Beverly Hills, Florida, went to be with his Lord on October 27, 2022 at Vitas Hospice after a long illness. He was the loving husband of 58 years of Diane (Yurk) Meltesen, and adored father of Kent Michael Meltesen and Michelle Lynn Meltesen and son-in-law Larry Arfmann.

Ken was born in Shennington, Wisconsin, on October 19th, 1935, to Myron and Elsie Meltesen. After graduation from Washington Park High School in Racine, Wisconsin he attended Union Grove Teachers College. He completed his education at the University of Wisconsin/Whitewater. Ken was a respected 6th grade math teacher in the Racine Unified School District for 35 years.

He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard and was activated in 1961-62 to Fort Lewis, Washington during the Berlin Crisis. He was a student of World War II history.

Ken was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. When looking for a retirement home, he saw the Ted Williams Museum, Boston Street and Fenway Drive in Citrus County, Florida, and knew he had found the right place. He cheered on the Green Bay Packers and proudly wore the Green and Gold.

Ken loved all sports and played baseball and basketball in his younger years. He enjoyed playing games Bridge, Strato-Matic, Cribbage and Pinochle. He loved social outings and traveling with his family.

He loved his Lord and held many leadership roles at the Lutheran Church of Redeemer in Racine Wisconsin and at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Hernando, Florida.

Ken was preceded in death by Elsie and Myron Meltesen and Otto and Alice Yurk and sister-in-law Laura; also, his sister Janet Fredrickson (Meltesen) and brother-in-law, Byron Fredricksen.

Survivors include his brother Calvin Meltesen and sister-in-law Bonnie Meltesen, Karen and Robert Wuerzberger, and Robert and Robin Yurk. Ken has many wonderful nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando, on Tuesday, November 15th at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Memorial donations may be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Serving Our Savior (SOS) Food Pantry.
