Laurie E. Mikell, 68, of Crystal River, passed away Oct. 31, 2025. She was born on May 26, 1957, to Robert and Eilzabeth Willoughby in Royal Oak, Michigan. She moved to Florida in 1970, and graduated from Crystal River High School in 1975.
Laurie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a legal assistant at Harold Stevens Law Office in Crystal River for a number of years after her daughters graduated from High School. Laurie was a great cook, enjoyed gardening and was an avid bowler. She loved the outdoors and her hobbies included fishing, hunting, beach vacations, and Florida Keys trips with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Willoughby in 2022.
Laurie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Bruce Mikell. Also surviving are her children, Shannon Mikell and Shaunna Knierim and her husband Jim; sister, Sandy Schindler and her husband Kurt; grandchildren, Jesse Thomas, III, Kaleigh Thomas, Austin Knierim and Aubrey Knierim; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6 at Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, with a funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Fountains Memorial Park Cemetery in Homosassa.

Mrs . Mikell , I will cherish all of my childhood Memories and the times spent with your family. I remember your pasties and all the good food you cooked us . Taking me to the woods and on camping trips . Letting us drive your Bronco II at otter springs .... Good thing we all already knew how to drive by about 12 yrs old ! I loved hanging in the pool with you and the family, lots of cookouts and Shannon taking me out in the John boat all summer long !!!
